Author Tip No. Two: Google Books

Get yourself listed on Google Book Search!

Google, one of the largest, most reputable, and most frequently used search engines on the internet, offers a search engine exclusively for books.

Google Book Search offers listings of books searchable by author and any topical keyword or phrase, just like any internet search. Submitting your book for entry into the Google Book Search database offers tons of online exposure to new readers.

In Book Search, you may choose to offer all or only portions of your book online for users to read. You may also include links to where readers can purchase your book. Photos and About the Author sections enhance your listing. Plus, having your book in Book Search heightens the chance of being found in a normal search in Google.com.

Try it. Go to http://www.books.google.com/ and enter in the words "fear of feeling loved." That search results in 1910 results (as of 6/15/2007). If you scroll down the page, you will find a book called Fear of Feeling Loved by Dr. Bill Emener. Clicking on the image directs you to a beautiful full-color representation of the book's cover, a synopsis, chapters available online, links to buy the book, even the ability to search inside the book itself using keywords that will generate specific pages containing those words.
